In our fast paced world, the need for quick and effective solutions is a major contributing factor. This is especially important within the construction sector. The requirements for new infrastructure across the globe is thriving and with that comes the challenges of meeting project completion deadlines.
The Concrete Curing Curse
The most commonly used material within the industry is concrete – commonly used for new build homes, office buildings, new roads and so much more. The volume at which it’s used makes it even more important for it to be cured correctly, and this can be an often lengthy and challenging process.
But why? The first challenge faced once concrete is poured is the climate conditions. Whether you are facing sub-zero temperatures, constant rainfall or blistering hot conditions, these will all have negative effects on the concrete curing process. If not addressed and mitigated correctly, these issues will continue.
Another challenge faced is the waiting times. As the saying goes, ‘All good things come to those who wait’ and this is ever so prevalent in the construction industry. Depending on how the concrete is being poured, whether it’s directly on site or in hollow core, precast blocks, beams or culverts, the final product must be flawless. That is why waiting times are crucial. Cracks, uneven surface, frozen layers etc are all considered blemishes and will result in costly replacements and labour.
The Solution – Concrete Curing Blankets
Here is where our concrete curing blankets play an important role! Designed with efficiency and protection in mind, our bespoke concrete curing blankets are the answer to many curing inconsistencies.
Our range of concrete curing blankets are lightweight, durable and easy to use for a wide range of sectors. We spoke with William McLaughlin at Ardmore Precast who tested our curing blankets – check out our video with him below!
Benefits of Cunninghams Concrete Curing Blanket
Designed with all sectors in mind, we have developed a practical yet durable solution with long-term benefits. Here are just a few of the benefits our covers can provide for you and your business.
Temperature Control
Getting the correct temperature for concrete curing can be a complicated task. Low temperatures prolong setting time and result in long lead times, whereas high temperatures reduce setting times and can cause concrete to crack. Our blankets by design are multipurpose, ensuring there is no loss of insulating value (R-Value).
Weather Resistant
Our PVC insulated covers are specifically designed to keep the elements out. Many off-the-shelf concrete curing covers are made of Polyethylene, a lighter and less rigid material. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is inherently more rigid and abrasion resistant as the material is weaved and then coated to create a stronger tarpaulin material.
This creates a PVC concrete curing blanket that is 100% waterproof and will eradicate the threat of waterlogging. This will ensure no water ingress once the cover is in place.
Cost-Effective
Who doesn’t like a one time purchase that lasts years? I know we do – that’s what we’re in the business of! Our concrete curing blankets are no different. The 1050gsm is the heaviest material we use for this specific application, and with its industrial strength you have even more peace of mind that projects are protected.
We have spoken with some of our customers and they have been delighted that our insulated curing blanket paid back in less than 6 months due to reduced amount of cement required and heating oil on the bed. RESULT!
Easy to Use
The material is lightweight and very easy to use. Simply cover the area of concrete and secure in place with bungee lace/cord. Once the concrete is cured, remove and fold away for later use. The material is extremely flexible and can be easily transported from one place to another. This allows the blanket to be re-used multiple times and therefore is the perfect solution for many businesses. A reliable approach which reduces the need for costly disposable covers and is a high-quality protective measure.
Bespoke Covers
Everything we make is bespoke, from size, shape, colours and applications, we have the ability to manufacture concrete curing covers that can be used across all industries. Whether you are undergoing a DIY project and need to keep your new patio dry during the winter, or part of a civil engineering company repairing a bridge, this solution will work for you.
With our state-of-the-art printers, we can also print logos or company information on the covers for a fully branded product.
